Simple Woman's Day

For Today...

Outside my window... is a beautiful moon shining through the tress.

I am thinking... that today I really had fun with Jase playing outside in his tent.

I am thankful for... the beautiful day God blessed us with. My skin still feels warm from all the sunshine we had today.

From the kitchen... I see Alice in the laundry room/pantry looking for some TP.

I am wearing... my bathing suit and a cover up with shorts.

I am reading... another Anita Blake novel- The Killing Dance.

I am hoping... I can work out baby sitting arangements for Tus. so I don't have to take the day off.

I am creating... a file of pictures to do something special for an over due present for somebody special.

I am hearing... the NBA finals playing in the living room.

Around the house... everyone is tucking themselves into bed and silence is taking hold of the night.

One of my favorite things... is this little bit of time I have to myself at night before I crawl into bed myself.

A few plans for the rest of the week...clean the house cause they are calling for more rain so we'll be stuck inside and then enjoy the weekend dedicated to Miss. Sara.

The Animals at the Zoo

I got some really amazing shots of some of the animals at the National Zoo today and thought I would share them.
The lion was on a frightening hunt for something.

And of course you can't have a zoo with out elephants.

There were snakes of colors and sizes.

And of course the National Zoo's most famous attraction: The Giant Panda.

The aquamarine life was breathtaking with some of the largest crustaceans I've ever seen!

I didn't even know there were so many different types of lizards

.

Cartoons are always showing bears climbing up into trees...but until today, I've never seen it before.

The seal was one of the most entertaining animals today as he tickled himself with his tail while perched on his rock.

Jase told us on the way home that the turtles were his favorite. He enjoyed the small water turtle just as much as the 50 year old tortoises.

The monkeys/orangutans/apes were as entertaining as always.

And there were a few others that we really enjoyed.

Family Photo Friday

I chose this as my Family Photo Friday picture in honor of Phillip's 21st birthday. Since he turned 21 yesterday, I figured I'd pick a picture with him in it. This was taken on our 2007 camping trip. The guys (Rob, Phillip, Dad, and Sonny) thought they were so tough after tearing up the minature golf course. If I remember right, I think Sonny finished with the best score. So Sonny!!!

Charlotte Race

Sunday finally came...Race Day!!!
I really didn't want to go to the race, but just minutes before leaving, I was kind of suckered into going. After getting to the track, though, I got a little excited.

The Army put on a really good pre-race show. And where we were sitting the helicopters were flying right over our heads. My favorite part was when the parachutters came down and attempted to land on the 'X'. A couple of them actually landed right in the center of it. And two of them came down attached to one another. It was really amazing.

But then....

The cloud rolled in, and didn't roll out. And our smiles turned to frowns as the race got called.

I still had a really good time, though. They raced the next day, but the only racing we saw were the cars on the highway beside us racing home from their holiday weekends.

Speed Street

The weekend of the Charlotte race we went to NC to visit with the Moskals and to enjoy the racing festivities. Saturday night we headed off the speed street. As soon as we got there we noticed some activity happening just ahead of us. A black SUV came roaring up onto the side walk and some very anxious people on cell phones were running around. Next thing we knew (okay, I really didn't know until it was all over and they told me, but anyways) Denny Hamlin hopped out the SUV and started walking to the the local news studio. Rob was right by him and and even spoke with him. Well, Rob spoke, Denny just gave a head nod and a grunt.

A couple other cool things we saw were Kyle Busch's car (I officially became a fan while down there. Everyone was pressuring me to pick a driver and Jase loves his M&M car, so a Kyle Busch fan I have become) and a Lamborghini.

Family Photo Friday

Yes! My grandfather was totally out-numbered in his house! Four girls...that's alot of estrogen! Ha Ha! This was taken at My Aunt Barbara's birthday party. (I believe it was her 50th). They took it back to the old days with poodle skirts. From left to right is my Aunt Anne, Aunt Barbara, Aunt Phyllis and my mom. And I guess you can figure out which one is my grandfather.

Family Photo Friday

This picture of my brother, mom, and me was taken on one of our summer vacations to Rehobeth beach. My dad knew someone who had a beach house there and we rented it out a few times. I really don't remember the boat ride, but I do remember the monsterous segulls that would fly around it. And I can't end this post without commenting on Andy's shorts! LOL Can I say Daisy Dukes!!!
