Family Photo Friday

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a HUGE Daddy's Girl. I love when my mom tells the story of when we were on vacation when I was a toddler and they were arguing over whether to bring my stroller or not. My mom wanted to take it and my dad didn't. My dad won the argument, but my mom warned him that she was not going to carry me. So whenever I got tired of walking and wanted to be held, my mom would say, "Go to your sucker," and I would go to my dad and put my arms up. One of the best things about my dad is, know matter how big I got, there was always room for me in his arms. Whether for a comforting hug or a little spin on the dance floor (like in this picture that was taken at Geoff and Lucy's wedding). I love you Daddy!

I'm so happy I've got to spend so much time with my family this month, especially with my precious niece. Lately, whenever they come in town, she comes and spends at least one night with us. That is my favorite time with them; I don't have to share them with anyone else.

Missing Mom Monday- Week 21

This is for Missing Mom Monday and Missing Aunt Monday. My niece, Mak, spent the night this past weekend and Jase and her wanted to bake a cake. So, I helped them read the recipe and measure out the ingredients. And the cake was delicious!

Missing Mom Monday- Week 20

Me and Jase were bouncing on the Jumping Pillow at Jellystone on our anual camping trip. This is one of his favorite activities at the campgrounds.

Simple Woman's Day

Outside my window... the sun is shinning and it looks like its going to be a beautiful day!

I am thankful for...the wonderful family I have, who can put issues aside for a weekend and just enjoy each other's company.

From the kitchen... I can see the sleeping bags and clothes from our camping trip flooding out the laundry room door.

I am wearing... jean, a summer blouse, and brown sandals.

I am reading... "Sail" by James Patterson

I am hoping... Rob cleans and packs the tents up in storage and washes up the laundry while I'm gone today...I can hope, can't I?!?! LOL

I am creating... a picture folder on the laptop with all the pictures from this weekends camping trip.

I am hearing... Henny's pace around the living room.

Around the house... are piles of camping gear that need cleaned and packed up.

A few plans for the rest of the week...include spending more time with my Bro, SIL, nephew and niece while they are in town.

Luray Caverns

Since the family was heading to Luray, VA today for our annual camping trip a group of us (Me, Rob, and Jase, John and Michael, Julie and Anna, and Karen and Sonny) decided to head out a little early and go to the Luray Caverns.

I've been once before when I was 13 and it was just as amazing this time around. The tour wasn't as nice because its changed from personal tour guides to a recording and head set, but the sites where no less breathtaking!

This picture was taken in the entrance way to a large open area where the largest and oldest stalactites are found. The cave ceiling is the highest here and the stalactites hang all the way down, nearly reaching the ground.

This was one of the most beautiful areas. The stalactites you see on the bottom of the picture are actually a reflection of the ones hanging from the ceiling. A shallow pool of water causes the illusion.

Anyone hungry for eggs?

This is the friendly ghost of the caverns. It named that because of its white color, its shape, and the way it can be seen from so many different places in the cave.

This is the wishing well that has the most amazing clear, blue-green water I've ever seen.

This is an actual working organ. There are little hammers attached to wires spread through the caverns, and when you press a key, the hammer strikes a stalactite and it makes music. It makes a beautiful, soft sound. They actually have weddings down in this portion of the caves and they play the organ during the ceremonies.

This is formation looks like a set of false teeth.

These stalactites are called blinds, because of the way they drape down and fold into each other.

If you look closely, you can see a huge stalactite is laying horizontal. It fell from the ceiling of the cave over 10,000 years ago.

Visiting the caverns made for the perfect start to our camping weekend!
