Summer is here!

And summers growing up always meant a two week trip to West Virginia. Two of the best weeks of my life every year! This picture was taken at my grandma's house. Their property was divided by a road and we were across the road in front of the gate to the cow pasture. We used to spend so much time in that pasture; playing up in the hay loft of the barn or swimming in the creek. I love that my brother and I have so many memories from those trips to look back on.

I wanted to use today's family photo to look back on the struggles of this precious little girl. She was four months old here. She just came out of her second open heart surgery. She was hooked up to so many machines that she had to have a private room to hold them all. The little blue swatch of fabric on her chest was stitched to her skin to cover the hole in her chest from the surgery incision that they couldn't close up because her organs were too swollen. She fought through this, and she fought through several other open heart surgeries after this. She's fought through too many infections and viruses to count. And by God's grace, we are gathering together tomorrow to celebrate her 3rd birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARA!!!

Today's family photo is from our trip to Gilbert Run Park last weekend. We were out on the water in a paddle boat soaking up the sun and getting a little exercise. Me and Rob paddled and Jase steered. We had a great day!

Simple Woman's Day

Outside my window... the sun is scorching! It is 90 degrees and humid, humid, humid!

I am thankful for...the wonderful day we had yesterday at Gilbert Run Park.

.From the kitchen... I see Rob on the couch napping and Jase in the chair watching the "Snorks". We just got a new channel and it has all the old school cartoons.

I am wearing... jeans, a top with a checked pattern on it and brown sandals.

I am reading... Ceremony in Death by J.D. Robb (Book 4 in her 'In Death' series)

I am hoping... we go back over to our neighbor's to go swimming.

I am creating... photo books for Jase of each year of his life so he can always look back on these days of his childhood. (Yup, still working on them)

I am hearing... the TV. Other than that the house is eerily quite considering we are all home.

Around the house... there is little clutter. I cleaned the other day and told Jase he has to keep his toys in his room and he has been doing really good about it.

One of my favorite things... taking pictures. I took a ton of pictures this weekend at the park.

A few plans for the rest of the week...exercise. That's about it!
