Fishing at Gilbert Run Park

Baby Birds

We found 3 little baby birds in our back yard today. One was on the tree trunk and two were on the ground hidden under some brush. They were all calling out so pathetically for their mommy. We watched them for several hours and got really upset because their was no sign of the momma bird and they just kept calling and calling. We were afraid she wasn't going to come. Rob had actually seen a bird with similar coloring and spotting on Fri. flying with a fish in its mouth and being tailed by a bald eagle! We were afraid the bird with the fish was the mommy and the eagle got a hold of it trying to get the fish. Well, by late afternoon, the mommy and daddy came back. After seeing them, we are pretty sure they are wood-peckers. The baby bird on the tree had made it back up to the top and we were able to watch the parent birds feed it. But they paid no attention to the 2 babies still calling to them on the ground. Then, the one in the tree fell back out! Now all three of them are on the ground in our back yard. We are hoping the mommy feeds them and cares for them till they can fly. It is really breaking our hearts. I was able to get some really close pictures of the one one the tree. The ones on the ground didn't turn out so well, but if they are still there tomorrow, I'll take more.

The Ducks

We went to Gilbert Run Park today and saw all kinds of ducks. They were everywhere!

Stranger 2/100

This man made himself nice and comfortable while he basked in the sun and did a little fishing.

Family Photo Friday

Since today is the start of Memorial Day Weekend, I picked this picture from 2 Memorial Day's ago for Family Photo Friday. We spend the weekend in NC with visiting Jase's godmother and she took us to the NC zoo. It was Jase's first trip to the zoo. Pictured here are Jase, Rob, Amber, Jacob and Joy.

Simple Woman's Day

Outside my window... the bugs, especially mosquitos. are trying to break in!

I am thankful for...the wonderful weekend I spent with my family. We didn't do anything note worthy, but the quality time we spent together at home is priceless.

From the kitchen... I can see the reflection of the living room fan casting cool, moving shadows over everything.

I am wearing... black capri dress pants and and yellow and black shirt (my church clothes).

I am reading... Immortal in Death by J.D. Robb (Book 3 in her 'In Death' series

I am hoping... my nephew is going to be playing in the soccer tournament in NC so I can finally see him play again.

I am creating... photo books for Jase of each year of his life so he can always look back on these days of his childhood.

I am hearing... the chirping of crickets and other night creatures and the hum of the fridge.

Around the house... little reminders that I really need to clean!

One of my favorite things... going to church with my boy Sunday mornings. I love having that time with him every week and hearing him say his prayers to God.

A few plans for the rest of the week...clean the house (as 'Around the house...' nicely brought to my attention as needing done), take Jase to the library, and help Rob finish his packet for class.
